Jeremy Bentham - auto-icon
(1748 - 1832)

Jeremy Bentham was a philosopher associated with the doctrine of utilitarianism and the principle of 'the greatest happiness of the greatest numbers'.

The auto-icon consists of his skeleton, padded with straw, clothed in his original clothes, with a wax head on its shoulders, placed in a glass-fronted case and resides at University College London.

The real head is no longer on display.

Apparently the university couldn't manage to figure out how to keep the head safe from student pranksters... at  least that is the only explanation I could find on their website.
